Reelights are battery-free always-on lights for your bike, and can be spotted on just about every bicycle in Copenhagen. We bought a pair of these lights whilst on holiday there, and loved them so much that we’re now distributing them in Australia!
No batteries, ever.
Reelight’s are inductively powered, using a magnet mounted to your wheel. No batteries to buy or recharge, ever.
Frictionless*.
Unlike a traditional dyno, there are no added moving parts, just a pair of magnets mounted to your wheels.
Weather and thief resistant.
With no batteries or buttons, the lights are completely sealed. They are permanently fitted, and not easily pinched (especially if you have security skewers rather than quick release).
Lights stay on, even when you stop.
A capacitor stores up energy while you ride, so that your lights keep blinking for several minutes after you stop moving.
Safe.
Whilst not a substitute for high powered halogen or LED lamps for cycling in complete darkness, they are bright enough to make you seen in urban areas.
Suitable for left hand side cycling.
Our lights are the UK version, where the lights mount on the right, facing traffic. Hooray!
* Dear Physicists and Engineers: This isn’t strictly true, of course. When the magnets on the wheel pass the coils inside the lights, a current will be induced, which in turn produces a magnetic field that opposes the magnets motion. In practice, this resistance is so miniscule that we can’t tell the difference between riding with and without Reelights. So you may as well have them!Comments Off
